Night out

Hi all

I went out last night to some friends’ evening reception.  For the first time, in what feels like decades, I wore a dress that came to my knees and shoes with heels!!

It was a fantastic night and loads of people who knew me pre-op, hardly recognised me!!  What an ego boost.

Monsoon dress shocker

Hi all

Mark treated me to a makeover yesterday as we were going to see some friends in Newark.  I remembered a black/white Monsoon dress I’d bought 5 years ago (even then it was really too tight but I wanted it).  I wore the dress twice and then had to admit it was too small and put it away.

I got it out and wore it – I felt great but it was apparent it was going to be it’s last outing as it is now TOO BIG!!!   It is a wrap-around dress but I had to almost bunch the ties up so it didn’t inadvertently flash my body to the world.

I loved the make-up and the way she did my hair – it’s hard to get my hair looking good as it is definitely going thinner but she managed it!!

Had a good eating day too – thank you Fred.

Shopping and eating out

Hi all

Yesterday I went girlie shopping with my friend.  To those who know me, it is almost unheard of.  Since being a ‘big’ lass the thought of clothe shopping appalled me and I only went to “Evans” clothes shop when I really needed a new item to wear (not often).

But as I shrink, I find myself more drawn to the idea so yesterday we went to a nearby shopping centre called White Rose.

It started well as the first shop we went into “New Look” I got gladiator style, toe post sandal which was beaded turquoise and gold.  Excellent.

Then my friend wanted some lunch.  No problem I thought.  There is a “spud-u-like” so I’ll have jacketed potato with tuna.  But when I got there the tuna had sweetcorn in it which is a no no at present.  I didn’t fancy grated cheese or beans or chilli so I plumped for chicken tikka, figuring I’ve eaten chicken curry successfully for a few weeks now.

Oops.  Within 4/5 mouthfuls it was quite apparent it wasn’t working and I spent the next 2 hours being sick 9 times.  It didn’t do much for the shopping experience and in the end we had to come home as I really felt unwell. Grrrrrr.    Mental note not to have that again and have a milky coffee or soup!!

Hasn’t put me off shopping though and I fully intend to go back and get something.

One thing – in New Look we went to the Curvy ladies area and I was looking at some tops – guess what – they were too big for me – oh wow that was an ego boost!!!!

Sausage and bean casserole rocks!! and yeah to new clothes

Hi all

Just to report that the sausage and bean casserole was a success – Fred loved it.  I had probably one sausage and a spoon of the bean casserole mix but it went down okay and stayed down which is even better.

I went to Tesco’s today to get a print cartridge but came away with 2 x packs of new knickers (2 sizes down), some pink cropped trousers (2 sizes down), 2 tops (ditto) and a DRESS!!! a just below the knee summer dress (ditto) – wow I’m in shock.  Mark started steering me away from the clothes/styles I’ve worn for years and steered me towards clothes for the new me (more fitted and less “hide my body”).  Pics will follow 🙂

Today was the first time in years when I actually enjoyed looking at clothes and trying them on….. this, hopefully, is the way forward although maybe not for my bank balance lol.  But to be fair, Tesco clothing is not expensive which is good as these clothes may be too big for me in the next few months???

Its weigh in and measurements on Monday so fingers crossed I’m still on the downward trend.

Fashion sense?

Was walking around the shops today and eyeing up what’s on offer clothes wise.  It suddenly occurred to me that I have no idea what my ‘style’ is.  Or, more to the point, what it is going to be a few months down the line from the operation.  Indeed, what will my style be this time next year?!!

Many years ago when I was slim I liked 50’s style – circular skirts with flouncy petticoats; pencil skirts with fitted blouses; leggings with shirt tops.  I obviously was born AFTER my ‘fashion’ time.  I even liked some of the 60’s styles.  We shall move swiftly over the 70’s.  When I think of the ‘oxford bags, fun fur jackets, maxi’s and mini’s – and the garish colours it makes me weep (usually with laughter).

But come Autumn 2012, how slim will I be and, key question here, what will suit me??  Keep up with the blog and I’ll post as the months go by and, fingers crossed, the weight falls off.  I promise to post my fashion successes AND failures.
